HomeMy WebLinkAbout4582_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4582 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE ITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE CONCEPT OF COUNTING EVERYONE IN THE 1990 CENSUS WITHOUT REGARD TO CITIZENSHIP WHEREAS, the federal government will conduct the 10-year census in 1990; and WHEREAS, the stated purpose of the census is to arrive at the total count of everyone in the country regardless of citizenship status; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States is considering restricting the census of legal citizens only, which would effectively deny regions like Southern California vitally needed federal dollars; and WHEREAS, the effect of this denial of federal funds causes undue hardship of local governments to make up the shortfall; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Redlands supports the concept of counting everyone in the 1990 Census without regard to citizenship status; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the State Legislature and Executive Branch and the Southern California Congressional delegation. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 7th day of November, 1939 .
