HomeMy WebLinkAbout3617_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 3617 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING THE PROPOSED CALTRANS POLICY REGARDING THE USE OF FAIT FUNDS ON STATE HIGHWAY PROJECTS WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has requested the California Transportation Commission (CTC) to adopt a new policy regarding the use of Federal-Aid Urban funds on State Highway projects; and WHEREAS, the proposed policy as set forth in the Caltrans Director's August 10, 1979, memoraundum to the CTC would result in a major shift in the funding of improvements on State Highways from the State to local agencies such as San Bernardino County and its cities; and WHEREAS, the resulting diversion of funds desperately needed for local road and transit improvements to fund improvements involving the State Highway System is contrary to long standing policies with respect to State and local responsibility on State Highway improvement cost sharing; and WHEREAS, the proposal to require that FAU funds be used to fund all improvements to State Highway PAU routes will undermine the existing FAU priority setting process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands strongly opposes the proposed Caltrans policy regarding the use of FAU funds on State Highway projects as sub- mitted to the California Transportation Commission on August 10, 1979, and appeals to the Commission to reject the proposal .
