HomeMy WebLinkAbout2895_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2895 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSED MOTORCYCLE RECREATION PARK IN THE OAK GLEN AREA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS hereby ordains and resolves as follows : WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is vitally concerned with the mailn- tenance and preservation of the Oak Glen area for the use of its resi- dents and citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby oppose the development of the proposed motorcycle recreation park in the Oak Glen area for the following reasons : 1. There exists a high soil erosion Potential which can and in fact has lead to serious flood problems downstream. 2 . The cycle routes would create unsightly scars easily visible from the nearby roads and built up areas . 3 . The operating cycles would constitute a noise nuisance to nearby residents, youth camps, and other neighbors . 4a The operating cycles would create dust and exhause nuisance. The operating cycles would create an ecological impact which cannot be remedied through abatement. 6m The motorcycle park would affect the operation and main- tenance of the Gravback Council of the Boy Scouts of America. 7 . The operation of such motorcycle park would create a highly volatile area resulting in serious fire hazard to surrounding residents of the community. 8 . The establishment of such motorcycle park would create a highly congested traffic situation in an area whose present roads are inadequate to handle existing -traffic. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands, meeting this 20th day of July, 1971, does declare its strong opposition to the development of the proposed motorcycle recreation 3:)ar'k in the Oak Glen area for the reasons listed above.
