HomeMy WebLinkAbout2892_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2892 RESOLUTION REQUESTINM THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO GIVE CLOSE ATTENTION TO POSSIBLE AIR POL- LUTION WHICH MTGFIT BE CAUSED BY THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF SWITCHING YARD PLANNED BY THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD WHEREAS, the citizens of Redlands continue to be subjected to intolerable levels of air pollultion, and WHEREAS, the citizens of Redlands must look to the Board of Suel-visorsof our County of San Bernardino for creation and en- forcement of adequate anti-air pollution regulations, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is expected to be asked to approve the installation by Southern Pacific Railroad of a large switching yard in the general vicinity of Rialto, the operations of which give rise to fears of a substantial new source of pollu- tants to our already overburdened atmosphere, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby resolve: To ask the Board of Supervisors of San Bernardino County to pay parti-cular attention to the controls and condi tions relating to air pollution to be required of the Southern Pacific Railroad in considering approval of their application, and further - (2) That we send copies of this resolution to the other incorporated cities in our air basin within a thirty-- mile radius of the proposed switching yard site, urging that they also express to the Board of Super- visors any concerns that they may have in this mat-ter.
