A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA PROTESTING THE FAILURE
OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO PROVIDE
ADEQUATE PARKING FOR ITS EMPLOYEES AND PATRONS
WHEREAS, the Post Office at the corner of Brookside
and Eureka Streets has been in operation for many years ,
and
WHEREAS, the intersection of Brookside and Eureka
Streets is an extremely busy intersection making parking
on the streets very hazardous , and
WHEREAS, the Postal Service has never made an attempt
to upgrade their facilities or provide off-street parking
for its patrons, employees, or vehicles used in its
operation, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has committed extensive
financial resources to redevelop the area adjacent to the
Post Office, including extensive parking for both employees
and patrons of business places , and
WHEREAS, the Post Office employees and patrons continue
to utilize the parking spaces provided for businesses and
employees, and
WHEREAS, the utilization of spaces by the Post Office
employees and patrons cause an adverse economic imnact
on the businesses and the City of Redlands ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Redlands as follows :
SECTION 1. The Postal Service is urged to take
early action to provide adequate
parking for its emplovees, vehicles,
and patrons .
SECTION 2 . That this resolution be sent to the
U. S. Postal Service office in
San Francisco and Washington D.C.
SECTION 3. That this resolution be sent to all
appropriate legislators representing
the City of Redlands with a request
that thev assist in the resolutions of
the probiem.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED THIS first day of
March , 1977 .
