HomeMy WebLinkAbout2455_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO . 2455 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS , CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL NO . 2623 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS , WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No , 2623 would amend Sections 1240 and 1241 of the Code of Civil Procedure, which relate to the right of eminent domain against properties owned by other governmental entities ; and WHEREAS, the amendments therein contained would deprive California municipalities of certain rights which they now pos- sess under existing law; and WHEREAS, the proper and necessary growth and development of municipalities may be adversely affected were their water supplies to remain under the control of authority other than those public officers guiding the progress and prosperity of California cities ; and WHEREAS, the right of cities to appropriate existing water supply systems must be preserved so that it can be en- forced when it can be shown that such appropriation would serve a more necessary public service ; IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City of Redlands does oppose passage of Assembly Bill No. 2623, and that the City of Redlands does urge its legislative representatives, Senator Nisbet and Assemblyman Hinckley, to take all action necessary to accomplish the defeat of this proposed legislation.
