HomeMy WebLinkAbout2863_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2863 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING INCREASE IN ELECTRIC RATES WHEREAS the Southern California Edison Company has applied to the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California, in Appli- cation No, 52336, for an increase in electric energy rates , and WHEREAS the announced increase for agriculture and pumping service is 15 . 7 percent, and WHEREAS under various modes of operation, particularly where power consumption is low in relation to connected horsepower, the actual proposed increase will be as high as 30 percent, and WHEREAS the Edison Company was granted an increase in rates as recently as September of 1969, and WHEREAS the merging of Edison Company with the California Electric Power Company with the approval of your Commission eliminated the forces of competition that were at work in this area, and WHEREAS the proposed increase is excessive and inflationary; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands is opposed to the increase as presented, and protests on the grounds that the increase is excessive as stated and is greater than stated under certain circumstances . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Commission is urged to test any proposed increase schedule against the various modes of operation to establish the effective proposed increases .
