HomeMy WebLinkAbout4200_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4200 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING THE GANN PROPOSITION 61 INITIATIVE WHEREAS, an initiative drafted by Paul Gann shall appear on the November 4, 1986, ballot; and WHEREAS, this initiative, the so-called "Fair Pay Amend- ment , " will have a deleterious effect on the ability of California governments to efficiently deliver critical services which the State' s taxpayers pay for and deserve; and WHEREAS, this inequity in compensation under the "Fair Pay Amendment" could force qualified public employees into the private sector; and WHEREAS , the initiative would punish , through its provisions for sick leave and vacations , those public employees who are most conscientious in their use of these benefits; and WHEREAS, the Gann initiative could actually result in higher , not lower , pensions for some already highly- compensated former public officials; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands opposes the Gann "Fair Pay Amendment" initiative (Proposition 61) and urges its defeat by the voting public.
