HomeMy WebLinkAbout6987_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6987 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING AN ADVISORY PARKING LOT TREE PALETTE FOR NON-RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS,pursuant to Redlands Municipal Code Section 18.12.160, the City of Redlands Planning Commission has the authority to review proposed landscaping plans associated with the construction,reconstruction,moving, conversion, alteration or addition to any building or structure; and WHEREAS, a subcommittee of the Planning Commission, working with City staff, has developed an advisory "Parking Lot Tree Palette" for non-residential development to provide landscape architects, licensed nursery persons, design professionals, the development community, staff and City decision-makers with a clear and common understanding of the City's expectations for parking lot shade trees; and WHEREAS, on April 13, 2010,the Planning Commission considered and recommended adoption of the revised "Parking Lot Tree Palette"to the City Council; and WHEREAS,by the adoption of this resolution, it is the City Council's desire to establish an advisory "Parking Lot Tree Palette"for non-residential development; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1_ The"Parking Lot Tree Palette," in the form attached hereto as Exhibit"A,"is hereby established. Section 2. The "Parking Lot Tree Palette"is advisory only and all requirements of the Redlands Municipal Code apply to landscaping for non-residential development. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 7th day of September, 2010. The intent of updating this list is to Broaden the plant palette possible to trees that are commonly used and available. They are separated by Evergreen and Deciduous to meet City ordinance percentage requirements. Slower growing varieties have been included with the requirement that they be installed at a larger size.
