HomeMy WebLinkAbout2723_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2723 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING SECTION 1 AND SECTION 8 OF RULE X OF RESOLUTION NO. 2032 ENTITLED "PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS" OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS , WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized and directed under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1089 to adopt rules and regulations for the administration of the personnel system, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED: THAT the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby amend Section 1 and Section 8 of Rule X of the Personnel Rules and Regulations provided in Resolution No. 2032 ° THAT Section 1 of Rule X entitled "Annual Vacation Leave"' shall be amended to read as follows : "Annual vacation leave: The purpose of annual vacation leave is to enable each eligible employee annually to return to his work mentally refreshed. All employees in the Competitive Service shall be entitled to annual vacation with pay except the following : (a) employees still serving their original probationary period in the service of the City. However, vacation credits for this period will be granted to each such employee who later receives a permanent appointment. (b) employees who work on an intermittent or seasonal basis, and all employees who work less than half-time . (c) temporary employees who are on full-time hourly basis. "Each regular, full-time employee of the City of Redlands shall receive annual vacation with pay in accordance with the following provisions . For the first ten years of continuous, full-time service, such employees shall accrue paid vacation at the rate of 10 working days per year . Upon completion of ten years of continuous, full- time service, such employees shall accrue paid vacation at the rate of 15 working days per year. Upon completion of 20 years of continuous, full- time service, such employees shall accrue paid vacation at the rate of 20 working days per year. " 11 = 140 .00% " to 67 .2 hour week = 22 .4 to 11 it to = .186067% to 11 " "No vacation shall be taken in periods of less than a full day Vacation may not be held over from year to year unless the employee was unable to take the vacation through no faultof his own, but because the City required his continued service.., In certain in- stances when specifically authorized by the department head, the employee may be allowed to hold over part or all of his vacation until the following year. "In order to earn the above amounts of vacation, the respective employees must receive 50% or more of their base pay in a given month. The one exception to this rule is in the case of safety members who are off work because of injury on the job, but who are receiving full pay from the City during their absence; these persons will cease earning vacation beginning with the date of injury. The month of injury will earn vacation on the same basis as any other month, for example, if' more than 50% of the month of injury has been worked it shall receive vacation credit. "The times of a calendar year during which an employee may take his vacation shall be determined by the department. head with due regard for the wishes of the employee, and particular regard for the needs of the service . "For the purpose of computing vacation leave, Saturday, Sundays and official holidays shall not be counted as work days. "Employees who terminate employment shall be paid the salary equivalent to all accrued vacation leave earned prior to the effective date of termination . No such payment shall be made for vacation accumulated contrary to the provisions of these rules . " THAT Section 8 of Rule X entitled "Holidays" shall be amended to read as follows : "Hol (a) The City of Redlands observes ten holidays : New Year ' s Days, Lincoln ' s Birthday, Washington ' s Birthday,, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Admission Day, Veterans ` Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day., Employees expressing the desire to attend religious services on Good Friday shall be given time off. Tn no case shall this be more than two (2) hours . If New Year ' s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Christmas Day occurs on Sunday, the following Monday is observed. If the holiday falls on Saturday, it is Lost . All employees will receive equal number of holidays as those employees employed in the City Hall on a forty (40) hour week, „The City guarantees nine holidays per year. Prior to the beginning of each calendar year, the authorized holidays for the year will be administratively determined. (b) In order to qualify for holiday compensation, the employee must be compensated for either the working day pre- ceeding or the working day following the holiday. (c) Permanent and probationary employees are en- titled to holiday compensation or credit. (d) Temporary employees are compensated by hourly wage and are not entitled to holiday compensation or credit. " ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of December , 1968 ///-, -�- A,4Z Waldo F.
