WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized zed and directed ender
the provisions of Ordinance .: 1089 to adopt rules and regulations
for the administration of the personnel systems_
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVEDt
THAT the City Council of she City of Redlands does hereby
amend Sections 1 and 8 of Rule X of the Personnel Rules and Regu-
lations provided in Resolution No. 2032, and rescinds . lu o No.

"Annual Vocatian Leaven The purpose

work mentally refreshed. All employees in the Competitjv8 service
shall be entitled annual vacation with pay except the following :
(a) employees still serving their original probationary
period in the service f the City. However, vacation

such employees shall accrue paid vacation at the rate of
10 working days per year,

Vacation earned will be calculated as follows:
40 hour week = 10 working days per year = 83AW of a day per month.

63 hour week = 10 ,5 working days per year 87 , 5% of a day per month�

"No vacation shall be taken in periods ok less than a full day.
Vacation may not be held over from year to year unless the employee
was unable to take the vacation through no fault of his own, but
because the City required his continued service, In certain in-
stances when specifically authorized by the department head, the
employee may be allowed to hold over part or all of his vacation
until the following year,.
"In order to earn the above amounts of vacation, the respective em-
ployees must receive 50% or more of their base pay in a given month,.
The one exception to this rule is in the case of safety members who
are off work because of injury on the job, but who are recenving full
pay from the City during their absence; these persons will cease earn-
ing vacation beginning with the date of in3jury. The month of injury
will earn vacation on the same basis as any other month, for example,
if more than 50% of the month of injury has been worked it shall
receive vacation credit.,
"The times of a calendax year during which an employee may take his
vacation shall be determined by the departnent head with due regard
fCar the wishes of the employee, and particular regard for the needs
of the service.
"For the purpose of computing vacation leave, Saturday, Sundays and
official holidays shall not be counted as work days.
"Employees who terminate employment shall he paid the salary equiv-
alent to all accrued vacation leave earned prior to the effective
date of termination. No such payment shall he made for vacation
accumulated contrary to the provisions of these rules, *
THAT Section 8 of Rule X entitled "Holidays" shall be
amended to read as follows -.
"H21idays:
(a) The City guarantees ten holidays per year , Prior to the
beginning of each calendar year, the authorized holidays for the
year will be administratively determined,

must be compensated for either the working day preceeding or the
working day following the holiday
W "Permanent and probationary employees are entitled to
holiday compensation or credit.

(d) "Temporary employees are compensated by hourly wage and
are not entitled to holiday compensation or credit."
