HomeMy WebLinkAbout409 RDA_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 409 A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DIRECTING THE INITIATION OF THE PROCESS REQUIRED TO CONSIDER SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR A MATCHING GRANT FROM THE PRESERVE AMERICA PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redlands (the "Agency") is a duly constituted redevelopment agency under the laws of the State of California and pursuant to such laws is responsible for the administration of redevelopment activities with the City of Redlands (the "City"); and WHEREAS, Preserve America is a White House initiative developed in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Department of Commerce; and WHEREAS, the goals of this initiative include a greater share knowledge about our Nation's past, strengthened regional identities and local pride, increased local participation in preserving the country's irreplaceable cultural and natural heritage assets, and support for the economic vitality of communities; and WHEREAS, the initiative is compatible with our community's interests and goals related to historic preservation; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has received the designation as a Preserve America Community to improve our community's ability to protect and promote its historical resources; and WHEREAS, the Preserve America matching-grant program provides funding to designated Preserve America Communities to support preservation efforts through heritage tourism, education and historic preservation planning; and WHEREAS, the Agency desires its staff and consultants to initiate and prepare a grant application for the Preserve America matching-grant program; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands recognizes the urgent need for a Cultural and Heritage Tourism Master Marketing Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Agency finds the facts set forth above in this Resolution are true and correct. Section 2. Agency staff and consultants are directed to initiate and prepare a grant application for the Preserve America matching-grant program. Section 3. The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redlands supports the application for a matching grant from the Preserve America Program to develop a Cultural and Heritage Tourism Master Marketing Plan and commensurate promotional literature, and commits to implement the grant, if it is awarded. Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect upon the date of its adoption.
