HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances_1097ORDINANCE NO. 1097 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE, ARTICLE 624, AND ADDING ARTICLE 627. The City Council of the City of Redlands does ordain as follows: SECTION ONE: That Redlands Ordinance Code Sections No. 6244, 6245, and 6246 shall be amended to read as follows: Sec. 6244 PAYMENT BY VIOLATOR: Time and Amount - Any operator or owner of a vehicle for which a citation has been issued shall pay a penalty in the amount designated by the following schedule in full satisfaction of such violation: Schedule If paid within Amount 24 hours 500 10 days $1.00 30 days $5.00 Sec. 6245 MANNER OF PAYMENT: Said payment may be made through receptacles designated for such purpose located within the metered area of the City or in person to the City Treasurer, City Hall, Vine and Cajon Streets, Redlands or by mailing said penalty to above City Treasurer. Sec. 6246 NON-PAYMENT: The failure of such owner or operator to pay said penalty within thirty days (30 days) shall subject such owner or operator to the misdemeanor penalty provided for the violations of the provisions of this Oode. SECTION TWO: That the Redlands Ordinance Code shall be amended by adding Article 627, to read as follows: ARTICLE 627 Parking Meter Hoods Sec. 6271 AUTHORIZATION FOR USE: The City Treasurer is authorized to secure hoods to such specifications as he deems necessary to completely cover a parking meter head and to lease at the rental charges herein- after specified. The use of such hoods shall be limited to those meters adjusted to record ten (10) hours parking time located on a City Parking Lot. Sec. 6272 HOURS OF USE: It shall be unlawful for any person having possession, charge or custody of a hood to allow it to remain on any meter after 6:00 P.M. or to place it on any meter prior to 6:00 A.N. of any day. A hood shall not entitle the holder to any special parking space but only permits the use of any available space without depositing coins in the meter. Sec. 6273 HOODS NOT TRANSFERABLE: Parking hoods leased pursuant to the provisions of this Article shall not be transferable and shall be valid only for the vehicle bearing the license number appearing on the "Application for Meter Hood". Sec. 6274 MONTHLY RENT AND HOOD DEPOSIT: Every person, firm or corporation leasing a Parking Meter Hood shall pay in advance, a rental charge of three dollars and fifty cents ($3.50) for each calendar month or fraction thereof that the hood is charged out to him. A deposit of five dollars ($5.00) shall be required for each hood leased under the provisions of this Article. Deposits shall be refunded only when the hood, lock and key are surrendered to the City Treasurer's Office in good condition, excepting normal wear and tear of usage, and all fees are paid to date of surrender. Sec. 6275 DELINQUENT HOOD RENTS: A Parking Hood Rent shall become delinquent if unpaid ten (10) days after the due date. Any hood, the rent for which has become delinquent, may be recovered by the Police Department by whatever legal means necessary and returned to the Office of the City Treasurer. Recovery of a hood under the provisions of this Section shall not preclude the City Treasurer from bringing suit for the delinquent rent. The person, Firm or corporation to whom said hood was leased may redeem it by payment of the delinquent rent and the additional amount of one dollar ($1.00). Sec. 6276 RESERVED HOODS: The Chief of Police may place a hood, indicating that any metered parking space is reserved, on the meter adjacent to said space. The purpose and time for which a parking space may be reserved shall be at the discretion of the Chief of Police and the use of a reserved parking space by any unauthorized person or vehicle shall be a misdemeanor. SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall be in force and take effect as provided by law. SECTION FOUR: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause same to be pub fished once in the Redlands Daily Pacts, a newspaper of general cirlation printed and published in this city.
