HomeMy WebLinkAbout4702_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4702 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING THE NOVEMBER 1990 CALIFORNIA STATE BALLOT PROPOSITION NO. 141 WHEREAS, the citizens of Redlands rely upon the City to provide them with safe, reliable high quality water for domestic use; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has given priority to providing its citizens the highest quality water for domestic use as is reasonably available to it; and WHEREAS, Redlands' water supply is derived from several different sources of varying quality; and WHEREAS, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Health Services already require public water system to meet all drinking water standards; and WHEREAS, California already has some of the nations strictest drinking water safety standards; and WHEREAS, California law already requires public water systems to provide yearly reports to their consumers about the quality of their water; and WHEREAS, public water systems already have to answer to the public for their actions and submit to the control of the State if the public water system does not meet California's strict water quality standards; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: 1 . The provisions of the November 1990 California State Ballot Proposition No. 141 will have a deleterious impact on the City's ability to meet the goals of its water quality policy and will be detrimental to the health and welfare of its water consumers. 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands strongly opposes the passage of the November 1990 California State Ballot Proposition No. 141 .
