A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING CONSTRUCTION OF RAILROAD FACILITIES ON CITRUS AVENUE
WHEREAS the La-Z-Boy Chair Company is constructing a manufac-
turing facility at the northwest corner of Tennessee Street and
Citrus Avenue in the City of Redlands ; and
WHEREAS the La-Z-Boy Chair Company desires railroad services
from the Southern Pacific Railroad Company; and
WHEREAS the railroad proposes to construct a spur line to
serve this facility; and
WHEREAS the City of Redlands is desirous of cooperating with
the La-Z-Boy Chair Company and the Southern Pacific Railroad
Company;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED:
Section 1 : That the City of Redlands does hereby authorize the
Southern Pacific Railroad Company to construct a spur line in
right-of-way of Citrus Avenue in the City of Redlands described
as follows :
Beginning at a point in the north line of Citrus Avenue ,
said point being 600 feet west of the centerline of
Tennessee Street ; thence south forty feet to the center-
line of the existing railroad tradt , 'thence west along
the centerline of said railroad tracks a distance of
300 feet , thence north to the north right-of-way line of
Citrus Avenue , thence east along the north right-of-way
line of Citrus Avenue to the point of beginning.
Section 2 : That authorization for such spur line is made
subject to the following conditions and restructions :
1. That if the Southern Pacific Railroad Company or the Public
Utilities C.ommlssion, at some future date, should require
the installation of crossing protection devices , said cost
of said construction and maintenance shall be borne entirely
by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company,
2. That the Southern Pacific Railroad Company shall relocate
the drainage facilities proposed for this spur line to
accommodate street construction ppon request of the City.
3. That the Southern Pacific Railroad Company shall perform
all cons-truction at no cost to the City and shall hold the
City harmless for any damages or liability as a result of
the construction of this spur line.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this first da of February, 966.
