A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
DESIGNATING THE GARDEN HILL NEIGHBORHOOD AS HISTORIC ANI
SCENIC DISTRICT NO. 6
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1954 establishes rules and regula-
tions governing the designation, preservation and perpetuation of
historical and scenic properties; and
WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission has
held a duly advertised public hearing to consider designating the
following as a historic and scenic district:
Generally, all properties and addresses on Garden Hill
Drive, with the exception of 126 Garden Hill Drive.
See Exhibit "A" for details.
WHEREAS, the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission has
nominated the abovementioned properties as a historic and scenic
district in accordance with procedures established in Ordinance
No. 1954; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands has beld a
duly advertised public hearing to consider the recommendation of
the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission, and
WHEREAS, a strong majority of the property owners have
either expressed approval of the district concept or have not
objected; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that the proposed
district is a geographically definable area possessing a
concentration of historic and scenic properties which contribute
to each other and are unified aesthetically by their physical
development,-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redlands as follows:
1. The following properties are hereby designated as a
historic and scenic district:
Generally, those properties on Garden Hill Drive
with the exception of 126 Garden Hill Drive. See
Exhibit "A" for details.
Legal Description:
1. All of Lots lt 3, 5, 7, and portions of Lots 2,
4, and 6 of the Garden Court Subdivision in the
City of Redlands, County of San Bernardino,
State of California, as per map recorded in Map
Book 20, Page 22 in the Office of the Recorder
of said County; and
2. Parcels I and 2 of Parcel Map No. 4040 in the
City of Redlands, County of San Bernardino,
State of California, as per map recorded in
Parcel Map Book 39, Pages 22 and 23 in the
Office of the Recorder of said County; and
3. Parcel 2 of Parcel Map No. 9503 in the City of
Redlands, County of San Bernardino, State of
California, as per map recorded in Parcel Map
Book 122, Pages 28 and 29 in the Office of the
Recorder of said County; and
4. 123 Garden Fill are as further described in
Exhibit "B" attached hereto and made a part
thereof.
2. The buildings on these properties shall not be altered
on the exterior, moved, demolished, subdivided, or
other wise permanently changed on the exterior until a
Certificate of Appropriateness has been secured. The
properties shall not be subdivided without a
Certificate of Appropriateness. New construction will
also require a Certificate of Appropriateness.
3. Scenic elements to be protected per Ordinance No.
1954:
a. All cut stone curbs.
b. All stone walls.
c. Light standards/entrances posts at the
entrances of the street.

All provisions of Ordinance No. 1954, and any
amendments thereto, are in effect now and in the
perpetual future, unless this District is abolished by
a future City Council action.
5. Notices for all public meetings to consider
applications for Certificates of Appropriateness or
Certificates of Hardship shall be sent to a designated
representative of the neighborhood.
6. The City Clerk of the City of Redlands is hereby
directed to cause a certified copy of this Resolution
to be recorded with the County Recorder, County of San
Bernardino.
