HomeMy WebLinkAbout8640RESOLUTION NO. 8640 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REDLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $43,148.00 FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL, TOBACCO GRANT PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE AGREEMENT WITH REDLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026 BUDGET WHEREAS: The Redlands Police Department (RPD) is interested in participating in the Tobacco Grant Program, which is made available through the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of 2016 (Pop. 56) and administered by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to support local efforts to reduce the illegal sale of tobacco products to minors in the City; and WHEREAS: Grant funds will be used for RPD overtime costs related to tobacco education and enforcement operations, specifically decoy operations, "shoulder tap" operations, inspections, and educational outreach to tobacco -licensed retailers in the city, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. The Recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated by reference in this Resolution. Section 2. The Chief of the Redlands Police Department is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City, to accept grant funding in the amount of $43,148.00 from California DOJ; to execute the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cal DOJ regarding grant funds; and to execute and submit all other necessary grant documents, including but not limited to agreements, modifications, payment requests, and amendments for the purpose of increasing funding, that may be necessary for the completion of 2025-2026 TGP. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
