RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS , CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENT TO
AMEND THE SALES ANIS USE TAX ORDINANCE
WHEREAS , there currently is an arrangement whereby all
the cities in San. Bernardino County with the exception of the
City of Needles , pool five (5) percent of their maximum allow-
able sales and use tax revenue, and
WHEREAS, the County matches the above dollar amount; and
WHEREAS , these pooled funds have been used to fund cooper-
ative intergovernmental projects , including the debt service
for the 8. 035 million dollar San Bernardino County capital out--
lay building program; and
WHEREAS , sufficient funds will have been pooled byJanu-
ary 1, 1976, to service the outstanding debt; and
WHEREAS , it is the desire of the cities in the County to
continue this pooled funds arrangement at a reduced level and
fund the general activities of San Bernardino Associated Gov-
ernments (SANBAG) ; and.
WHEREAS , the SANBAG Executive Board and the SANBAG General
Assembly annually scrutinize the proposed SANBAG budget and
determine appropriate program levels and spending priorities
through a line item review of the proposed budget; and
WHEREAS, the cities and the County have agreed that the
new rate of contribution shall be one -half of one percent
( . 5%) from the participating cities plus ane--half of one per-
cent ( . 5%) of the sales and use tax collected by the County
from unincorporated areas ; and
WHEREAS , any excess or carryover funds not required by
the SANBAG general fund budget are to be pro--rated back to the
contributing member entities on the basis of contributions ;
and
WHEREAS, to reduce their respective contributions, the
cites must amend their sales tax ordinances to provide a
. 9951 sales and use tax, and the County must amend its sales
tax ordinance to give effect to these city ordinance changes ;
and
WHEREAS, these revisions must be complete and transmitted
to the State of California by November 1, 1975, if they are to
take effect January 1, 1976 ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Redlands
hereby declares its intent to amend Ordinance No.1072 being an
Ordinance adopted pursuant to the Bradley-Burns uniform Local
Sales and Use Tax Law, to impose . 995% sales and use tax ef-
fective January 1, 1976, pursuant to the provisions of Part 1.5
of Division 2 of the Revenue and Taxation Code of the State of
California.
SECTION 2. That said amendment of the Sales and Use Tax
Ordinance shall take effect January 1, 1976.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of September,
1975 .
