HomeMy WebLinkAbout2930_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 2930 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDL ANDS REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO REVISE THE MAN\ER IN WHICH SALES TAX REVENUES ARE DISTRIBUTED WHEREAS , sales tax revenues are distributed to cities within which the sale occurs ; and WHEREAS, many shopping centers attract non-resident customers from market areas lying outside the boundaries of the City within which the shopping facility is located and makes sales ; and WHEREAS, it is fair and equitable that persons who pay the sales tax should receive the benefits o--f:' sales tax revenues in the form of goods and services furnished by the City within which the persons reside; and WHEREAS, it is the belief of the Redlands City Council that fairness requires a change in the current manner by which sales tax revenues are distributed. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands hereby requests that all sales tax revenues paid by residents of this State should be distributed back to the local units of government on a more equitable basis than is currently provided by law, and joins with other interested cities in requesting that appropriate legis- lation be adopted by the State of California in order to correct the present injustice. RESOLVED FURTHER that copies of this resolution shall be sent to the League of California Cities for attention and legislative action. RESOLVED FURTHER that a copy of this resolution shall be sent to members of the State Legislature from San Bernardi-no County in- cluding the Honorable William Coombs , Senator ; the Honorable John Quimby, Assemblyman; the Honorable Jerry Lewis, Assemblyman; and the Honorable John Briggs , Assemblyman.
