A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING A SOFT BOTTOM CHANNEL FOR SAN TIMOTEO CANYON CREEK
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has planned the future of San Timoteo Creek and Canyon
for many years; and
WHEREAS, the Redlands Park and Open Space Plan call for San Timoteo Creek to be an
essential part of the City's Park, Open Space and Trail Plan; and
WHEREAS,the Redlands General Plan and Water Master Plan designate San Timoteo Creek
a vital resource of high quality water; and
WHEREAS,the City has purchased thirty-nine acres along the creek to be preserved as open
space and habitat; and
WHEREAS, the City has invested large sums in water production facilities dependent upon
the creek retaining a soft bottom.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands that
any flood control works or facilities on San Timoteo Creek within the City shall retain an unfenced
soft bottom channel providing water recharge, habitat and recreation.
