HomeMy WebLinkAbout3829_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 3829 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ADOPTING A SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS WHEREAS , the City of Redlands is committed to providing a work environment that is free of discrimination. In keeping with this commitment, the City maintains a strict policy prohibiting sexual harassment. WHEREAS, this policy applies to all of the City' s non-super- visory employees , as well as the City' s supervisors and agents . WHEREAS , it prohibits harassment in any form, including verbal, physical, and visual harassment. WHEREAS , sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, making unwelcome sexual advances and requests for sexual favors where either (1) submission to such conduct is made an explicit or implicit term or condition of employment; (2) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual; or (3) such conduct has the purpose or affect of substantially interfering with an individual ' s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment. WHEREAS, employees who violate this policy will be subject to discipline. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Redlands will not tolerate any form of sexual harassment or reprisal . Any em- ployee who believes he or she has been harassed by a co-worker, supervisor, or agent of the City of Redlands , should promptly re- port the facts of the incident or incidents and the names of the individuals involved to his or her supervisor or, in the alternative, to the City Manager. Supervisors should immediately report any incidents of sexual harassment to the City Manager. The City Manager will investigate all such claims and take appropriate disciplinary action.
