A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDLANDS SUPPORTING FUNDING BY THE SAN
BERNARDINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR A THREE YEAR
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TO IMPROVE THE COUNTY' S SCIENTIFIC
INVESTIGATION SERVICES
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS as follows:
SECTION ONE: RECITALS.
A. The San Bernardino County Sheriff' s Department Crime
Lab is currently understaffed and underequipped
resulting in court required scientific examinations
not being completed on time for trial .
B. The City of Redlands must now contract with private
laboratories to process crucial evidence needed for
successful prosecution of cases that otherwise could
not be expedited as a result of the workload the
County staff is experiencing.
C. Sheriff Floyd Tidwell proposes a three year develop-
ment program to build a state-of-the-art scientific
crime lab for all local law enforcement agencies
within the County of San Bernardino to include the
City of Redlands .
SECTION TWO: IMPLEMENTATION.
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Redlands supports the
proposal of Sheriff Tidwell and urges the San Bernardino County
Board of Supervisors to provide funding to improve the scientific
investigation services provided by the Crime Laboratory and Identi-
fication Division of the Sheriff' s Department.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk of the City of Redlands is
hereby authorized to direct and transmit a certified copy of this
Resolution to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of the County
of San Bernardino.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 7th day of January, 1986 .
