A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING A SCHEDULE OF RATES
TO BE CHARGED BY THE DISPOSAL DEPARTMENT AS PROVIDED BY SECTION 39204
OF ORDINANCE NO. 1612, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 3585
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the adoption of
the rate schedule contained herein will assure a continuing high
standard of disposal service by the Disposal Department for the
people of Redlands; and
WHEREAS, said rate schedule corresponds with the average rates
charged for disposal service in cities of comparable population and
in the same class as the City of Redlands; and
WHEREAS, the increase in cost of maintenance and operation of
the Disposal Department emphasizes the necessity of adopting the
proposed collection rate schedule to keep pace with the growth and
development of the City of Redlands;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:.
1 . As of August 8 , 1977 , the following alignment of the dis-
posal rate boundary was in force and effect and will continue:
Going west down Citrus Avenue from the easterly boundaries of
the city limits to Palm Avenue, west on Palm Avenue to
Roosevelt Road, then south on Roosevelt Road to Highland Avenue,
west on Highland Avenue to Center Street, north on Center
Street to Palm Avenue, west on Palm Avenue to Lakeside Avenue,
north on Lakeside Avenue to Clifton Avenue, following Clifton
Avenue into Sunnyside Avenue, north on Sunnyside Avenue to
Cypress Avenue, west on Cypress Avenue to Terracina Boulevard,
and from Terracina Boulevard west down Fern Avenue to the
westerly boundaries of the city limits.
2. The following schedule of collection rates for service by
the Disposal Department shall be in force and effect and be reflected
in all billings after August 8 , 1980 :
Residential Collections: $5. 75 per month with the exception of
those areas outlined on the map attached
hereto, where the rate shall be $7 . 00
per month.
Multiple Dwellings : $3 . 75 per month for each unit in a
(apartments & Mobile homes) multiple dwelling.
P.R.D. & Condominium: 75% of the area rate for each unit if
picked up, individually and yard rubbish
is handled separately . multiple dwelling
rate for each unit if two or three cubic
yard containers are used and complex is
billed as one unit.
Commercial : Cans: Beginning at $7 . 00 per month for twice
a week service and upward as determined by
standard rate table in the. Disposal Department
administered by the Sanitation Director . (A
copy of said table is attached hereto and shall
be made a part of this resolution. )
Multiple Unit: Minimum of $3 . 50 per month for
each unit in a multiple unit commercial complex .
Hand-Loaded. Refuse: Charges will be computed
at the rate of $0. 75 per minute of service.
Hard to Handle Refuse: Dirt, rocks , rubble,
roofing, construction material, carpets , and
all other items termed to be hard to handle by
the Sanitation Director will be computed at the
rate of $2 . 50 per cubic yard.
Front and Rear Loading lain Rental :
1-cubic yard $ 5 . 00 per month
2-cubic yard 8 . 00 per month
3-cubic yard 8. 00 per month
3-cubic yard balanced lid 10 . 00 per month
4-cubic yard 10 . 00 per month
Front and Rear Loading Bin Service:
$1. 35 per cubic yard of refuse capacity each
time serviced; the minimum charge (including
bin rental) will be $10. 00 per month.
Roll-Off Drop Box Rental:
1.5--cubic yard $40 . 00 per month
20-cubic yard 50 . 00 per month
30--cubic yard 50. 00 per month
40--cubic yard 60 . 00 per month
Roll-Off Drop Box Service:
Including rental , if picked up at least once a
week.
15--cubic yard $30 . 00 per load
20-cubic yard 40 . 00 per load
30-cubic yard 50. 00 per load
40-cubic yard 60 . 00 per load
Extra charge for box left over a week will be
$5. 00 per day.
Roll-Off Drop Box Service - Customer Owned:
15-cubic yard $ 25 . 00 per load
20-cubic yard 30 . 00 per load
30-cubic yard 37 . 50 per load
Compactor Box Service: $2 . 50 per cubic yard
of refuse capacity each time serviced.
Tilt Hopper Rental :
3-cubic yard $20 . 00 per month

Commercial: Steam Cleaning of Bins : $15- 00 minimum per
cleaning for any size bin.
Special Hauls :
$3 . 50 minimum
$8 . 00 first 15 minutes
$2 . 50 each additional 5 minutes up to 1 hour
$2 . 25 each additional 5 minutes thereafter
White goods: stove, washing machine, dryer,
water heater - $5 . 00 for 1 piece;
$4 . 00 for each additional piece
5. 00 for upholstered couch
5. 00 for box springs & mattress
4 . 00 for chair
Refrigerator or freezer : free of
charge to residential accounts.
3. The rates and changes established. by this resolution will 'ae
effective on all Disposal Department billings rude after August 8 ,
1980.
4 . All garbage collected at any private dwelling or residence,
and from every business place or other places not private residences ,
shall be collected by the City.
5. The provisions of this resolution shall not apply to the
following premises :
a. A dwelling on a single parcel of land which includes
five (5) acres or more and is used primarily for
agricultural purposes.
b. Residences of persons who may be granted exemptions by
the City Council upon clear and satisfactory evidence
that application of this resolution would cause sub-
stantial hardship to such persons . The City Manager
may authorize such exemptions following a report and
recommendation from a committee of three members , who
shall be the City Treausrer, the Director of Finance,
and the Sanitation Director.
6 . This resolution shall be published in the Redlands Daily
Facts once a week for three (3) weeks prior to the effective date of
the above schedule of collection rates for service by the Disposal
Department in accordance with Section 39204 of Ordinance No. 1612 .
