HomeMy WebLinkAbout6907_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6907 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN ENERGY LEADER PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDLANDS AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON WHEREAS, Southern California Edison has created an Energy Leader Partnership Program to assist local governments in controlling the recent unprecedented increases in the costs of energy by identifying areas where energy use can be reduced; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands' budget continues to be affected by the recent rise in the costs of energy, and controlling energy costs is a necessary component of budget discipline; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has adapted the U.S. Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement and a Climate Action Program to begin the process of reducing greenhouse gasses; and WHEREAS,reducing energy use at the local level not only saves the City money, but also significantly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; and WHEREAS, entering into an agreement with Southern California Edison as an Energy Leader Partner will provide the City with invaluable technical assistance and access to no-interest loans for energy efficiency improvements financed from the energy savings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Mayor or any member of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute,in the name of the City of Redlands, an Energy Leader Partnership Agreement, making the City an Energy Leader Partner for the new funding cycle of 2010-2012 Program. Section 2. The Quality of Life Department Director is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City, to execute all necessary documentation, correspondence, and reports for the purposes of administering the City's participation in the Energy Leader Partnership Program for the new funding cycle of 2010-2012 Program.
