A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN ENERGY LEADER PARTNERSHIP
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDLANDS AND SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA GAS COMPANY
WHEREAS,Southern California Gas Company created the Local Government Partnerships
to provide integrated technical and financial assistance to help local govenunents effectively lead
their communities to increase energy efficiency,reduce greenhouse gas emissions,protect air quality
and ensure that their communities are more livable and sustainable; and
WHEREAS,the City of Redlands' budget continues to be affected by the recent rise in the
costs of energy and controlling energy costs is a necessary component of budget discipline; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has adopted the U.S. Mayors" Climate Protection
Agreement and a Climate Action Program to begin the process of reducing greenhouse gasses;and
WHEREAS,reducing energy use at the local level not only saves the City money, but also
significantly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; and
WHEREAS,entering into an agreement with Southern California Gas Company as an Energy
Leader Partner will provide the City with invaluable technical assistance and will leverage the
strengths of each other to efficiently deliver energy and demand savings;
NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City ofRedlands,as follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the Mayor
or any member of the City Council of the City of Redlands to execute in the name of the City of
Redlands,an Energy Leader Partnership Agreement,making the City an Energy Leader Partner for
the new funding cycle of 2013-2014 Program.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the
Quality of Life Department Director in the name of the City of Redlands to execute all necessary
documentation, correspondence, and reports for the purposes of administering the City's
participation in the Energy Leader Partnership Program for the new funding cycle of 2013-2014
Program.
