A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING
AMENDMENT NO. 18 TO SPECIFIC PLAN NO. 45 TO AMEND SECTION VI(B)(8)(D)
AND ADD SECTION VI(B)(8)(E) TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN PROHIBITED SIGNS
AND SIGNS REQUIRING PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL
WHEREAS, City staff at the City of Redlands has made an application for Amendment
No. 18 to Specific Plan No. 45 (also known as the "Downtown Specific Plan") to distinguish
between signs requiring Planning Commission approval and signs that are prohibited within the
Downtown Specific Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has the authority to review Amendment No. 18 to Specific
Plan No. 45 to distinguish between signs requiring Planning Commission approval and signs that
are prohibited within the Downtown Specific Plan; and
WHEREAS, on July 8, 2014 the Planning Commission held a noticed public hearing at
which interested persons had an opportunity to testify in support of, or opposition to,
Amendment No. 18 to Specific Plan No. 45 and at which the Planning Commission considered
Amendment No. 18 to Specific Plan No. 45; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Govertnnent Code sections 65453 and 65090, on August
8, 2014, the City gave notice by publication in a newspaper of general circulation of the holding
of a public hearing at which the Amendment No. 18 to Specific Plan No. 45 would be considered
by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on August 19, 2014, the City Council held a noticed public hearing at which
interested persons had an opportunity to testify in support of, or opposition to, Amendment No.
18 to Specific Plan No. 45;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby amends Section VI(B)(8)(D), entitled
"Prohibited Signs", as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, to relocate specified signs to
Section VI(B)(9)(E).
Section 2. The City Council hereby adds Section (B)(8)(E), entitled "Signs Requiring
Planning Commission Approval," as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto.

e. Signs Requiring Planning Commission Approval
The following signs require approval of a Commission Sign Review by the Planning Commission subiect to
Section 18.12.090 of the Redlands Municipal Code.
• Roof and parapet signs.
• Internally illuminated plastic signs in the TC- Town Center- Historic District, except for
signs developed in conjunction with a cinema or theater.
• Portable or mobile signs, except as permitted per Redlands Municipal Code, Section
15.36.240 and Section 12.55.070.
• Signs which cover or interrupt architectural features.
• Neon signs over 2 square feet in area.
