HomeMy WebLinkAbout3398_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 3398 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS RESTRICTING THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS THAT CAN BE ACCUMULATED IN THE STATE HIGHWAY ACCOUNT AND REQUESTING EXCESS MONEY TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE CITIES AND COUNTIES OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, the State of California has a surplus of funds in the State Highway Account; and WHEREAS, these funds were paid by the taxpayers of California for the purpose of building roads; and WHEREAS, it is not in the public interest to levy taxes if they are not being used for the intended purpose, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands does request that Senator Presley introduce new legislation or amend existing proposed legislation to assure the expenditure of surplus funds accumulated in the State Highway Fund Account in accordance with the desires of local agencies and the State Legislature to provide the following: 1 . Restrict the amount of funds that can be accumulated in the State Highway Account in any one month to a maximum of $75 million. 2. in any month in which the surplus exceeds the above amount, the excess money shall be distributed to the cities and counties of California in accordance with existing State law.
