1. The ground on which the sidewalk 10 to be laid must be
excavated or filled in, as the case may require, to sub-grade and the
sub-grade is to be four inuhas (4" ) belovw the upper surface of the
sidewalk when finished, e7,0ept tjt alleyways and private driveways$
where it is to 'be five (5) inohes below. In cat3e it shall be found
necessary to make a fill in order to bring the surface of the ground
to sub-grade, sald filling, must be gettled with water and thoroly tam-
pod. 70he foundation for sidewalk must be loft with a true grade so
there will be no settlement after ti-le walk is laid.
The concrete on the sidewalks eh 'll be three and one-half
(3j) Inches in depth after being well to aped an4l On the alleyways and
private driveways it ahall be five (6) inches in depth after being well
tamped.

to perform the said work and construct the same in accordance with
plans and specifications.
