A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ADOPTING A STREET
NAME CHANGE FROM VALENCIA DRIVE TO ALEXIS LANE BETWEEN
RIVERBEND DRIVE AND PUMMELO DRIVE
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has the authority to name streets located in the
City; and
WHEREAS, the Community Development Department has recommended that
Valencia Drive, between Riverbend Drive and Pummelo Drive be renamed to avoid
confusion with the existing Valencia Drive which is also located in the City; and
WHEREAS, the City agreed to offer a street name as an auction item for the
Redlands Symphony fund raiser in 1990 and Jim Glaze was the successful bidder with the
name Alexis; and
WHEREAS, the developer, Centex Homes, has agreed to modifying the street
name of Valencia Drive in their tract to avoid confusion with the original Valencia Drive; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed that matter and concurs that the street
should be renamed to aid in timely emergency response calls and calls for City service;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has elected to implement the commitment to rename
a street as requested by the successful bidder, Jim Glaze, at the Redlands Symphony fund
raiser;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands hereby resolves:
Section 1. That the street presently known as Valencia Drive located between
Riverbend Drive and Pummelo Drive be renamed Alexis Lane.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution
to the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Bernardino as
required by Government Code Section 34092.
