A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ESTABLISHING A STREET TREE PLANTING PALETTE
WHEREAS, in 2009, the City Council approved a Street Tree Palette for the City of
Redlands as recommended by City staff, the Street Tree Committee, and the City's contracted
arborists; and
WHEREAS, the approved Street Tree Palette identifies the appropriateness of each tree
species to planting space widths and specific conditions; and
WHEREAS, since the approval of the Street Tree Palette, environmental factors and, in
some cases human interaction, have had a negative impact on a few of the tree species listed on
the approved palette; and
WHEREAS, City staff and the Street Tree Committee recommend amending the Street
Tree Palette to provide long-term mitigation of certain maintenance costs by assuring that the
appropriate tree has been planted in the appropriate place, to protect surrounding infrastructure,
provide for diversity of the City's urban forest, and insure the health of the tree;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The Street Tree Planting Palette attached hereto as Exhibit"A"is hereby
adopted.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of September, 2013.
