A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 6249 TO DISESTABLISH THE CITY'S STREET
TREE COMMITTEE AND TRANSFER MEMBERS TO THE STREET TREE
COMMISSION
WHEREAS, on February 3, 2004, Resolution No. 6249 was adopted by the City
Council to establish a Street Tree Committee to make recommendations and advise the
City Council regarding street trees; and
WHEREAS, this City Council acknowledges the value of the Street Tree
Committee in recommending policies for the planting, care and removal of trees and
shrubs in all parkways within the City; and
WHEREAS, on April 15, 2025, an Ad Hoc Committee of the City Council was
formed to review all charters for the City's Commissions, Boards and Committees; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tern Shaw and City Council Member Barich were
appointed to the Ad Hoc Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc Committee met with each Chairperson of the City's
Commissions, Boards and Committee, and reviewed all charters; and
WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc Committee reported their findings and recommendations
to the City Council at its regular meeting of July 15, 2025, which included a
recommendation to fornlalize the City's current Street Tree Committee into an official
Commission established within the Redlands Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2996 was introduced by the City Council on
November 18, 2025, adding Chapter 2.30 to the Redlands Municipal Code establishing a
Street Tree Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to transfer the current appointed
members of the Street Tree Committee to the Street Tree Commission.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS;
Section 1. This City Council hereby transfers the current members of the
Street Tree Committee and their unexpired terms to the Street Tree Commission.
Section 2. Resolution No. 6249 is hereby rescinded upon the effective date of
Ordinance No. 2996 establishing a Street Tree Commission.
