AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ADDING CHAPTER 2.30
OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH A STREET
TREE COMMISSION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 2.30 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Street Tree
Commission," is hereby added to read as follows:
"Chapter 2.30
Street Tree Commission
2.30.010: EXISTENCE:
There is a Street Tree Commission established to make recommendations and advise the
City Council regarding street trees.
2.30.020: MEMBERSHIP:
The Street Tree Commission shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor
with the approval of the City Council. Each member shall serve for a staggered four (4) year
term until his or her successor is appointed. No person shall serve more than two (2) consecutive
full terms unless appointed to an additional term by a four -fifths (4/5) vote of the City Council.
Vacancies on the Commission shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with the approval of
the City Council for the unexpired portion of the term. Appointments made to fill an unexpired
term will constitute a full term if more than one-half (1/2) of a term remains. For example, if a
term is four (4) years and an appointment for an unexpired term is for more than two (2) years,
this appointment constitutes a full term. The members of the Commission shall serve without
compensation, shall each be a resident of the City, and neither a member of any other standing
commission, board or committee of the City, nor an employee thereof. The City Council may
remove any member of the Commission at any time, without cause, by a majority vote. Three
(3) members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum.
2.30.030: MEMBERS; FORFEITURE OF OFFICE BY ABSENCE:
Any Commission member who is absent from any three consecutive regular meetings of
the Commission, unless excused from such attendance by consent of the Commission, expressed
by action of record in its minutes, shall automatically forfeit his or her office as a member of the
Commission. The vacancy so created shall be filled by appointment by the City Council for the
unexpired portion of the term.

2.30.040: ORGANIZATION AND MEETINGS:
The Commission members, shall, upon their appointment, organize and elect a chairman
for the ten'n of one year, and such other officers as the Commission members may deem
advisable, and shall make such rules and regulations as are necessary to fulfill the obligations
and duties of the Commission.
The Commission shall meet quarterly in the months established by resolution of the City
Council, which may be amended from time to time.
2.32,050: DUTIES:
The Street Tree Commission shall be advisory to the City Council and shall recommend
to the City Council policies for the planting, care and removal of trees and shrubs in all parkways
in the City. The Commission shall have regular meeting dates and shall keep records of all its
acts and proceedings."
Section 2. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the City Clerk shall certify the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it, or a summary of it, to be published once in the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and thereafter, this
ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
