State Street, Suite 69o, Redlands, CA 92373 909-798-7510 msaucedo@cityofredlands.org Government Affairs Manager Southern California Edison Dear Mr. Chen: MARC SHAW Mayor Pro Tempore PAUL BARICH Council Member EDDIE TEJEDA Council Member DEMISE DAVIS Council Member The Members of the City Council of the City of Redlands respectfully submit this letter requesting immediate attention from Southern California Edison. Recently, Council Members were made aware of insufficient electrical infrastructure to provide power to several city approved commercial and residential developments in District 2. The City Council is extremely concerned about this situation and the potential adverse impact it may have on current and fixture development in Redlands. The city has quite a few public and private projects in the pipeline that are essential improvements for the firture of the City of Redlands. As you may be aware, the city is planning a new police station at the intersection of Alabama Street and Redlands Boulevard. Construction activity has also begun on the approved State Street Village mall redevelopment project. In addition, there are three commercial and residential projects located in District 2 that were approved by the City Council in 2025, with some approval occurring prior to that year. At least one of these projects has a planned grocery store which would serve an area of the city that currently has no local choices for shopping. As a result of this discovery, the Members of the City Council of the City of Redlands discussed this matter during the meeting held on February 3, 2026, and unanimously voted to direct the Mayor to sign this letter to convey a sense of urgency regarding this situation to our partners at SCE. We respectfully request that SCE place the highest priority on the construction of electrical infrastructure for the affected areas in Redlands. Delays of two or three years for infrastructure installation are not in the best interest of our constituents. We look forward to hearing from SCE in response to this communication. Sincerely, Mario Saucedo Mayor City of Redlands
