A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
RELATING TO SUBDIVISION PROPOSALS IN NEIGHBORING CITIES AND
ADJOINING UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands (this "City Council") finds and
determines that subdivision development in neighboring cities and unincorporated territory adjoining
Redlands may have direct and indirect effects upon the City's infrastructure and planning,and may
have an impact upon the quality of life,public health,safety and welfare of the citizens of Redlands;
and
WHEREAS, the State Subdivision Map Act (Government Code sections 66410 et. sec...)
authorizes local agencies to make recommendations and comment upon subdivision proposals
located within cities and unincorporated territory that adjoin Redlands and that are within three miles
of the exterior boundaries of the City; and
WHEREAS,the State Subdivision Map Act further establishes a process whereby Redlands
may submit recommendations and comments on such subdivision proposals,and which requires the
local agency having jurisdiction over the proposed subdivision to consider the comments of
Redlands prior to acting upon the subdivision proposal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. In accordance with Government Code section 66453, staff of the City's
Community Development Department is hereby directed to promptly prepare and file with all
neighboring cities and counties having jurisdiction over lands adjoining Redlands,a map(as shown
on Exhibit "A" attached hereto) designating territory within a three mile radius from the exterior
boundaries of Redlands. Staff shall also communicate to such cities and counties Redlands' desire
to make recommendations and comments upon all subdivision proposals for such territory, which
recommendations and comments shall be considered by the cities and counties prior to their acting
upon any subdivision proposal.
