HomeMy WebLinkAbout5749_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5749 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS SUPPORTING THE SAN BERNARDINO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY S EFFORTS FOR INLAND EMPIRE AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS,San Bernardino International Airport is strategically located in South California for major air, rail and roadway logistics; and WHEREAS,the San Bernardino International Airport is an FAA certified passenger airport, intermodal rail facility, and major interstate freeway interchange; and WHEREAS, San Bernardino is centrally located in one of the fastest growing U.S. metropolitan regions and offers an affordable alternative with available workforce; and WHEREAS,the citizens of Los Angeles and Orange Counties may choose to limit expansion of existing airports and development of new airports; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Redlands City Council supports the San Bernardino International Airport Authority (SBIAA) to work with local governments and economic development authorities to accelerate development of airport capacity and other logistical infrastructure at San Bernardino. Section 2. Be it further resolved that the Redlands City Council encourages the SBIAA to work with the El Toro Reuse Planning Authority to provide an immediate alternative to development of El Toro Airport if the citizens of Orange County choose to not proceed with its opening.
