RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS,
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY
ADMINISTER THE FEDERAL AID URBAN HIGHWAY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1970 has established the
Federal Aid Urban System, and;
WHEREAS, San Bernardino County urban area share of the Federal Aid
Urban System funds is approximately $429,000 for each of the fiscal
years 1971-7/2 and 1972-73, and;
WHEREAS, these funds shall be used on a dollar for dollar matching
basis for right of way acquisition and construction of street and
highway projects on the Urban Highway System, and,
WHEREAS, said Urban System is a regional system including the Cities
and portions of the unincorporated area of San Bernardino County,
and;
WHEREAS, the most expeditious use of these funds requires that pro-
jects extend across and through the various Cities and unincorpo-
rated areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, that the County of San Bernardino is requested
to administer the Federal Aid Urban System funds and that each city
that is to receive a pro-rata share of said funds shall have the
option to:
1. Elect to utilize its pro-rata share on its own project
on the Urban System within its boundaries.
2. Elect to utilize its pro-rata share on a joint project
with the County, subject to County approval.
3. Release to the County its pro-rata share of Urban funds
and the County shall allocate and deliver from County
highway funds to the City, 70% of said pro-rata share
to be used by the City, with the same limits and con-
trols as Section 2106 Gas Tax funds.
Each City shall advise the County, not later than February Ist
preceding the fiscal year, which option it elects. If a City
elects to exercise option 3, the County shall deliver to the City
those highway funds as noted in 3 at the beginning of the fiscal
year.

The County shall utilize the Urban System funds for projects on
the Urban Highway System, determining project priorities at their
own discretion and without regard to City boundaries.
