HomeMy WebLinkAbout860_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO �EEREAS, appeals from parents, teachers, various other citizens and associations of this community have been made to the Council of the City of Redlands, for legislation to prohibit or control the distribution and sale of lurid, pornographic, and obscene literature, and Dae to the increase in various forms of literature to be obtained on the market which portrays horror, sex, sensationalism, depravity, crime and licen- tiousness, this Council has been requested to take steps to control or prohibit the sale and distribution of such literature, and This Council is informed that a bill to control or prohibit the sale and distribution of such obscene and lurid literature is being presented to the Legislature for adoption, and This Council is firmly convinced that state-wide control of this problem which has enveloped a major part of our United States, is necessary in order to combat the evil influence which is available to our children on many bookstands in most every city. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redlands, as follows: 1. The Legislature of the State of California is hereby urged and requested to pass proper legislation to prohibit or control the sale of all literature within the State portraying and sensationalizing horror, sex, depravity, crime, obscenity and licentiousness, particularly where it comes into the hands of children. 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to our representives in the Legislature and to the Legislative Counsel.
