HomeMy WebLinkAbout2904_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION No. 2904 I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS REQUESTING THE STATE LEGISLATURE, OF THE STATE OF CALIFOR14TA, IN ANY 1971 REDISTRICTING ACTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY, SENATE , AND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS , TO ASSIGN THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS TO BE WHOLLY WITHIN ONE ASSEMBLY, SENATE AND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. WHEREAS , the geographical area of the city of Redlands presently lies wholly within the '73rd Assembly District , the 36th Senate District, and the 33rd Congressional District , and , WHEREAS , the community of Redlands has numerous common interests and problems which are of vital concern to all the citizens of the city, many of which require action at the State and Federal level, and WHEREAS any political boundaries which might divide the city geographically would serve only to confuse the citizens as to whom to look to at the state and national level for oroper attention to their problems , and WHEREAS , any fragmentation of the geographic area of the city of Redlands between two or more Assembly , Senate or Conaressional Districts would not serve the best interests of the citizens of Redlands and the community of Redlands , as such action would diminish attention given to interests and problems by dividing the responsibility for solutions between two or more elected State or Federal representatives , NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the city of Redlands at its meeting of October 19 , 1971 , that the California State Legislature be respectfully requested , in any 1971 redistricting action for State Assembly, Senate and Congressional Districts , assign the geographic area of the city of Redlands to be wholly within one Assembly , Senate, and Congressional District.
