RESOLUTION NO. 2808
A RESOLUTION OF TAE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PERIPHERAL CANAL,
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is a constituent city
of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District,
which has entered into a contract for a supply of water
from the State Water Project; and
WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal, which will transport
water around the Delta of the Sacramento and San Joaquin
Rivers, is an essential feature of the State Water Project;
and
WHEREAS, many years of intensive study have determined
that, by providing regulated releases of fresh water to
Delta Channels at various points along the 43-mile Canal,
the Project will serve to protect and improve the environ-
ment and ecology of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Redlands supports the construction of the
Peripheral Canal, and urges Governor Reagan to give prompt
approval to the feasibility report sent to the State of
California by the Secretary of the Interior.
