A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
RECOMMENDING ADOPTION OF S . R. 636
WHEREAS S. B. 636 is currently being considered by the State
Assembly; and
WHEREAS this legislation will aid in overall control of out-
door advertising displays in the State of California; and
WHEREAS the League of California Cities reports that S . B.
636 apparently will not preempt the control of outdoor advertising
by the State to the detriment of local control;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Redlands does hereby endorse the adoption of S. B. 636 provided
S . BB 636 is amended to indicate clearly that the cities have the
right to enact more restrictive outdoor advertising legislation
than that contained in S . B. 636. With this clarification, the
Council urges its State Senator and Representative to support S .
B. 636.
