A RESOLIJTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITE OF REDLAI-MS SUPPORT-
ING THE SANT BERNARDINO VALLEY IMUNICIPAL WATER DIS-1111RICT BOND SSUE

KHEREAS , an election will be held March 9, 1971 at which the
voters will consider a general obligation bond issue proposed by
the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District for the con-
struction of a distribution system for water to be received under
the State Water Project; and
WHEREAS, the District' s contract with the State for northern
water 45 its most valuable asset, and the supply of such supple-
mental water is essential to the economy and prosperity of the Dis-
trict and the preservation of its natural assets; and
WHEREAS , the proposed system for the distribution of State
Water has been designed to provide adequate facilities at minimum
expense by use of natural -facilities by underground spreading, and
by staged construction of the project so that facilities will not
be built sooner than the requirement for water arises; and
WHEREAS , the use of a general obligation bond issue will
enable the District to plan in advance for the construction of the
entire project in stages as needed, thus insuring to all of the
residents of the District the benefit of the supplemental water
supply to be provided, and will provide an equitable means by

which the tax burden for construction of the facilities will be
shared by those who benefit from them so as to avoid an excessive
tax load upon the present tax-payers of the District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOL1,1ED BY THE cITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDLANDS , that full support be given to the San Bernardino
Valley Municipal Water District Bond Issue and that the voters be
urged to cast their ballots in favor of the -bond issue on March 9,
19,111.
