HomeMy WebLinkAbout3082_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 3082 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS SUPPORTING CERTAIN MEASURES TO HELP SOLVE THE VITAL NATIONAL PROBLEM OF THE SHORTAGE OF ENERGY WHEREAS, it has been forecast by the President of the United States that the nation will be faced with an energy shortage which will adversely affect the living conditions of the citizens and the economy of the nation, and WHEREAS, the President and the Congress have taken, or are taking, action to maximize the use of existing energy resources in the interests of all the citizens, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands believes that all the citizens of Redlands wish to support the national effort in making the best and most effective use of available energy resources, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands resolves as follows: That the citizens of Redlands should consider curbing all unnecessary outdoor ornamental lighting, including Christmas holiday lighting, during the period of the energy crisis; That all commercial establishments in the city consider the curbing of all unnecessary outdoor ornamental lighting, except for identification signs, during the period of the energy crisis; That the Chamber of Commerce, and the Junior Chamber of Com- merce curb, for the 1973-74 holiday season, all ornamental street lighting; That citizens and businesses in Redlands comply with the President' s request to voluntarily reduce home and business heating to a maximum of 68 degrees; That citizens and businesses in Redlands are encouraged to take all practical steps to conserve energy, including the reduction of home lighting and the curtailment of night business hours.
