RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING THEIR SUPPORT FOR RESOLUTION NO. 11881, ADOPTED BY THE
CITY OF RIVERSIDE REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO DECLARE A STATE OF
EMERGENCY IN THE SOUTH COAST AIR BASIN DUE TO CONDITIONS OF DISAS-
TER OR EXTREME PERIL TO THE SAFETY OF PERSONS AND PROPERTY CAUSED
BY AIR POLLUTION, WHICH CONDITIONS, BY REASON OF THEIR MAGNITUDE,
ARE BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE SERVICES, PERSONNEL, EQUIPMENT AND
FACILITIES OF ANY SINGLE COUNTY OR CITY AND REQUIRE THE COMBINED
FORCES OF A MUTUAL AID REGION OR REGIONS TO COMBAT
WHEREAS, on May 30, 1972, the City of Riverside adopted Reso-
lution No. 11881, requesting Governor Ronald Reagan of the State
of California to declare a state of emergency in the South Coast
Air Basin because of air pollution, under the California Emergency
Services Act, Section 8550 and following, of the California Govern-
ment Code, which is the area affected or likely to be affected by
the conditions of disaster or of extreme peril to the safety of
persons and property caused by conditions of air pollution, and
because the local authorities are inadequate to cope with said
emergency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Redlands
strongly supports the City of Riverside action and supports all
measures to reduce the air pollution problem in the South Coast
Air Basin.
