A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING THE ACTION OF THE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE
WHEREAS, the Mill Creek stream watershed is an impor-
tant source of water for domestic, industrial, commercial
and agricultural use in the San Bernardino Valley area; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands relies heavily on this
stream as a major source of its domestic water; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Forest Service has deter-
mined that private summer homes in the Mountain Home Canyon
area are not compatible with long range protection objec-
tives of the watershed due to the excessive potential fire
hazard to life and the natural resources of the area; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Forest Service has scheduled
the approximately 18 summer home permits in Mountain Home
Canyon for eventual termination,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Redlands supports this action as being in the
best interests of the people of this area and commends the
United States Forest Service in taking the steps necessary
to help protect such a valuable natural resource.
