HomeMy WebLinkAbout2594_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO, 2594 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF VALLEY AIRWAYS TO THE PUB- LIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE THAT: WHEREAS, the application of Venable Aircraft Company, a corporation, DBA Valley Airways, to the Public Utilities Com- mission, State of California, for a certificate of public con- venience and necessity as a passenger air carrier between the airport of Redlands and Los Angeles International Airport, is required, and WHEREAS, many industrial and commercial enterprises located in the eastern end of the inland Empire, comprising several cities including the City of Redlands, as well as indi- viduals residing in this area, have frequent requirements to travel to and from Los Angeles and points beyond, such as Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York City, and WHEREAS, surface transportation between the eastern end of the Inland Empire and Los Angeles international Airport is limited to either very infrequent public bus and rail trans- portation, or a slow traffic-congested journey by private auto- mobile, and WHEREAS , the eastern end of the inland Empire does not have available dependable, economical and frequent fixed-wing public air transportation between the area and Los Angeles inter- national Airport, and WHEREAS, the existence of frequent and economical air transportation, which can be depended upon by travelers even under weather conditions requiring instrument flight rules at Los Angeles International Airport, is considered critically essential to the economic growth of the eastern portion of the Inland Empire, especially the City of Redlands, and WHEREAS, Valley Airways has demonstrated the capabi- lity to satisfy this need for frequent economical, and above all, dependable air transportation between the area and Los Angeles International Airport, even under weather conditions which re- quire the use of instrument flight rules, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION ONE: That the City Council, for and on behalf of the people of the City of Redlands, supports the application of Valley Airways to the Public Utilities Commission for a certi- ficate of convenience and necessity as a passenger air carrier between the airport of Redlands and Los Angeles International Air- port. SECTION TWO: That certified copies of this Resolution be sent to the Public Utilities Commission, State of California, and the Director of Aeronautics, Department of Aeronautics, State of California.
