RESOLUTION NO. 3345 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS URGING THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO WIDEN AND IMPROVE FIFTH AVENUE AND SAND CANYON ROAD BETWEEN WABASH AVENUE AND YUCAIPA BOULEVARD IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY AND IMPROVE THE SAFETY OF SAID COUNTY ROAD. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS does hereby resolve as follows : WHEREAS, Crafton College enrollment is now significant and increasing, adding to the traffic on Fifth Avenue and Sand Canyon Road, and WHEREAS, Omnitrans Route No. 14 travels Fifth Avenue and Sand Canyon Road between Redlands and Yucaipa; and WHEREAS, large recreational areas are being developed in the Yucaipa area; and WHEREAS, a substantial segment of the Yucaipa population is senior citizens who prefer not to drive freeways (I-10) ; and WHEREAS, the only routes between Yucaipa and the Redlands commercial areas and medical facilities are 1-10 and Fifth Avenue and Sand Canyon Road; and WHEREAS, the existing width, grade, and alignment of Fifth Avenue-Sand Canyon Road are substandard, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands strongly urges that the Honorable Board of Super- visors of San Bernardino County reconstruct Fifth Avenue-Sand Canyon Road between Wabash Avenue and Yucaipa Boulevard at the earliest possible time to provide for the safety and well being of the citizens of Yucaipa and Redlands .
