A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
SUPPORTING;THE GOALS OF THE COMMUNITY OPTIONS "PUPPET FESTIVAL" FUND-
RAISER TO BENEFIT PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
WHEREAS, the First Annual Puppet Festival will be held on July 11th and 12th, 2003, at
Cal State San Bernardino by Community Options a,anon-profit agency that provides job search,job
placement and job coaching services to adults who have developmental disabilities, and Cal State
San Bernardino, Department of Theater Arts, and
WHEREAS, the proceeds from this event will be used to establish a scholarship fund that
will allow persons with developmental disabilities to attend a self-advocacy conference to increase
their level of independence; and
WHEREAS, funds will also be used to enhance computer training for individuals with
developmental disabilities and to purchase computer software programs to assist these individuals
with job interviewing and job performance skills, thereby increasing their chances of employment;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands shares the goal of Community Options to develop
opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to make choices concerning living,
working and enjoying life with dignity and respect; and
WHEREAS, the people of the City of Redlands benefit when residents become capable of
leading lives independent of assistance from family members, other care givers and public social
services.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE City Council of the City ofRedlands
hereby supports the goals of the Community Options First Annual Puppet Festival on July 11th and
12th, 2003.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 20th day of May, 2003.
