HomeMy WebLinkAbout2906_CCv0001.pdf RE ST NO. 2906 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS RECOMMENDING TRS T FUNDS FOR ALCOHOLIC REHABILITATION BE OBTAINED FROM A TAX ON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WHEREAS , the continuing increase in the number of persons who have become alcoholics or who are subject to alcoholism has reached shocking proportions; and WHEREAS, alcoholism is a threat to society in that it contributes to crime, ill health , unsafe highways, broken homes , stability in employment, and damages many other areas of public welfare and human dignity; and- WHEREAS, there is urgent need for expanded programs for the rehabilitation oi alcoholics in the State of California; and :U AS, a tax upon alcoholic beverages is a just and proper source of funds necessary to finance a program to rehabilitate alcoholics; I TREREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands that the Logislature of the State of California should impose a tax upon all alcoholic beverages for the purposs of financing and supporting an effective alcoholic rehabilitation program in California.
