HomeMy WebLinkAbout5812_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5812 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING A PROPOSAL AND AUTHORIZING THE DANGERMOND GROUP TO FILE A JOINT APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AND THE RIVERSIDE LAND CONSERVANCY FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA) GRANT FUNDS FOR THE SAN TIMOTEO CREEK ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION PROJECT ENHANCEMENTS IN THE CITIES OF LOMA LINDA AND REDLANDS WHEREAS, the City was awarded a One-Half Million Dollar Grant through the approval of the Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1999 by the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate for the San Timoteo Creek Environmental Restoration Project; and WHEREAS,the grant funding can only be used for habitat restoration and enhancements on San Timoteo Creek, and an application outlining a detailed project proposal must be submitted to and approved by the EPA prior to release of the funds; and WHEREAS,the City has outlined a project scope and identified parcels of land and a portion of the County Flood Control's right-of-way along the creek that would be included for the restoration project; and WHEREAS,The Dangermond Group,acting on behalf of the Riverside Land Conservancy, has outlined a project scope and identified parcels of land for the habitat restoration project along the San Timoteo Creels within the corporate boundaries of the City of Redlands; and WHEREAS, The Dangermond Group proposes to prepare a joint application(to share the funds) for and environmental restoration project that identifies the City of Redlands' request as the top priority of the joint project; and WHEREAS, The Dangermond Group proposal will save the City significant funds in application preparation costs and provide the necessary expertise in the field of habitat restoration; and WHEREAS, the project costs will include land acquisition and improvements, and will require 45 percent matching funds as the City's local share; and WHEREAS, the proposal will assist in meeting the EPA criteria by extending the habitat project to portions of the creek in the City of Redlands and augmenting the Army Corps of Engineers channel improvement and habitat restoration project. 1:\Cm\RFS\5812.wpd NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Redlands City Council approves and authorizes The Dangermond Group to prepare the j pint EPA Grant application on behalf of the City of Redlands and the Riverside Land Conservancy, and commits to the 45 percent local matching funds for the San Timoteo Creek environmental restoration project enhancements in the Cities of Loma Linda and Redlands.
