HomeMy WebLinkAbout5899_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5899 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC REGULATIONS PURSUANT TO TITLE 10 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE. Pursuant to studies made under authority of Title 10 of the Redlands Municipal Code, and the presentation of information gained in such studies, the City Council hereby finds and determines that certain regulations are necessary and shall be established pursuant to Title 10 of the Redlands Municipal Code, and the Traffic Engineer of the City of Redlands is hereby directed to perform such acts as are necessary to accomplish the following: SECTION ONE: Pursuant to Section 10.24.010 of the Redlands Municipal Code, a traffic engineering investigation (Engineering, Traffic and Speed Survey and Speed Survey Data sheets), attached hereto as Exhibit "A," and made a part thereof, has been conducted for the following highway and the following speed limits are hereby found most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and are reasonable and safe: Highway: Palo Alto Drive Date of Study: November 12, 1990 Speed Limits as follows: 30 m.p.h. between Mirasol Drive and Sunset Drive. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED THIS 5TH DAY OF JUNE, 2001. Mayor ATTEST: City C rk EXHIBIT "A" ENGINEERING, TRAFFIC AND SPEED SURVEY HIGHWAY UNDER SURVEY: Palo AIto Drive AREA OF: Between Mirasol Drive and Sunset Drive DATE OF SURVEY: November 12, 1990 RECOMMENDATIONS: The Iast ball bank indicator test conducted on this section of Palo Alto Drive was on November 12, 1990. Since the survey, the street segment has not undergone any significant changes in geometry or surface condition. For this reason, the ball bank indicator test data of November 12, 1990 is still acceptable. In the area between Mirasol Drive and Sunset Drive, ball bank indicator tests were run on Palo Alto Drive. Following is a list of the safe speeds determined for each curve: Curve East West #1 30 m.p.h. 27 m.p.h. #2 34 m.p.h. 33 m.p.h. #3 30 m.p.h. 30 m.p.h. #4 33 m.p.h. 33 m.p.h. Please refer to the attached map for the location of each curve. Based upon these readings it is recommended the street be posted for 30 m.p.h. Based on the facts of this survey it is recommended that Palo Alto Drive between MirasoI Drive and Sunset Drive be posted as a 30 m.p.h. zone.
